GYROTONIC® training

The GYROTONIC® Method was created by Juliu Horvath, a professional dancer. Compared to the linear movements of Pilates and yoga, the movement in this system is more circular and three-dimensional. Exercises in the GYROTONIC® Method focus more on movements of the spine and articulation of the joints. We are always working in contrast, to create a feeling of more space in the body by working in opposition (think Newton's 3rd law)! Similar to Pilates, there is a focus on movement originating from the center, and there is an awareness of and connection to the center in all movements, even in sitting. Exercises in the GYROTONIC® Method can feel very dynamic and rhythmic, connected to the underlying pulse of being a human with a heartbeat. Some elements of exercises in the GYROTONIC® Method may feel familiar to people who have practiced swimming, dance, martial arts, yoga, or qi gong.

The GYROTONIC® equipment used at 3 Heart Movement is a pulley tower with weights. The push and pull of the resistance created by the pulleys and the handle units helps to assist both stretching and strengthening.

GYROTONIC® exercises are truly for everyone, people who are older or deconditioned can discover safe and gentle yet freeing ways of moving. Many high-level professional athletes and professional performing artists practice GYROTONIC® training for body conditioning and injury prevention. All clients are supported with homework exercises and Caroline works with the client to check in and work towards individual goals.
